Ravichandran Ashwin is playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL2020. In a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) an interesting incident came out while RCB was chasing the total. It involves Ashwin and the non striker Aaron Finch of RCB. Well, You have guessed it right! its the same old “Mankad” Controversy. But this time Ashwin went smart.
While Aaron Finch was at the non Striker’s end and backing up out of the crease Ashwin pulled out of his bowling run up seeing the non sticker out of the crease. But this time to everyone’s surprise Ashwin opted not to dislodge the bails instead gave a warning to the non sticker.
If this wasn’t enough, Ashwin after the match (RCB vs DC) came out with a tweet in a every witty way warning the batsman about future “Mankads”.
This tweet was not only funny but also brought back the same Mankad rule debate. Previously Ashwin has been involved in several such dismissals where he ran out the non striker who was backing up a little too much.
One such case was of Jos Buttler (RR) in the last season of IPL when Ashwin ran him out at the non striker’s end igniting a debate over rules versus Spirit of cricket.
Ashwin was also criticized for his actions by the former Aussie captain and Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting. Ashwin also mentioned pointing in his latest tweet, suggesting that he is up for such dismissals in future though Aaron Finch is his buddy.
