Aaron Finch the captain of Australian cricket team was not able to find his form in the recent IPL 2020. But he is back with a bang, scoring a fabulous century on his home soil. Steve Smith also posted a ton in the first match against the Indian cricket team.

INDIA vs AUSTRALIA FIRST ODI Match Summary

Australian top order bamboozled Indian bowlers by scoring a mammoth total f 374 runs in first innings of the first ODI. Australia won the toss and came in to bat first. The seasoned opener David Warner and Aaron Finch came out to bat and started off aggressively right from the start.

Warner added 69 runs before he got out to Mohammed Shami. Steve Smith joined Finch and both scored tons leading Australia towards a huge total.

Steve Smith played one of his career best knocks and scored a century (105 runs) on just 66 balls. He achieved this with a strike rate of 159. He kept on finding the fence regularly and Indian bowlers appeared to be helpless in front of his aggressive style of play. Smith smashed 11 fours and 4 sixes to reach 105 runs. Shami got the better of him when he was bowled on a quick delivery on good length.

Glenn Maxwell played an amazing knock of 45 runs on just 19 balls. He slogged Indian bowlers to all parts of the park. He scored 3 massive sixes and 5 fours for his 45 runs.

Indian Response.

It was always going to be difficult to chase such a huge total (374). India also missed their seasoned opener Rohit Sharma, who is not a part of the ODI Squad due to injury. M Agarwal was the first man to go when J Hazlewood picked him up when he was playing on 22 runs. Shikar Dhawan was the top scorer for Team India. He scored 74 runs before skying one to Starc on Adam Zampa’s delivery.

Middle order heavy India had to get the major chunk of the runs from its middle order but things did not work out for Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. None of these middle order batsmen could capitalize on their starts and score big for Team India.

The only highlight of the match for India was Hardik Pandya‘s fearless inning of 90 runs. He smashed 4 sixes and 7 fours but could not get his team close enough to the target courtesy some great bowling form Adam Zampa, who took four wickets today.

The Difference between Australia and India

Indian Cricket Team has not been largely successful on Australian pitches over the years but last year they managed to win everything because of their good fielding and aggressive batting. Both of these traits were missing today.

Indian team couldn’t recover from the ground lost in the first innings due to poor fielding that resulted in letting Australia post a huge total. It was always going to be difficult for the batsmen after that because it is not often that we see such scores being chased at the highest level.

Indian middle order also failed today and the main strike force of Virat Kohli was eliminated by Aussies early leveraging the scoreboard pressure.

Hazzlewood and Adam Zampa bowled exceptionally well and got seven wickets between them making it difficult for the tourists to get anywhere near the target.

India vs Australia: Predictions

Michael Vaughan says India will lose to Australia in all formats

India vs Australia has just started but England’s ex Captain and Cricket legend Michael Vaughan has done a lot of criticism on Indian Cricket team. predicted that India will lose to Australia in this series. Not only this ODI series but he said that India will loose to Australia in all formats on this tour.

Here is what Vaughan has tweeted after India lost the first ODI to Australia.

Michael Vaughan has also termed Indian cricket team as “OLD SCHOOL” and said that India has lesser bowling resources and the batting lineup is not deep enough.

Not only this but Vaughan has also criticized “Slow Over rate” from Indian cricket team in the first One Day International match against Australia. Michael has also termed Indian body language as “Defensive”.

Lets See What happens next in the coming matches, Will Team India bounce back in the second ODI match against the Aussies, or will the Australian cricket team dominate Team India. We are surely in for some great action coming our way.
