It all started with the return of Chris Gayle. He helped chase down a target of 172 against RCB by scoring 53 runs. Then KXIP had to beat Mumbai Indians, which they did thanks to some Gayle brilliance in Super. Then a 29 of just 13 balls ensured KXIP Win by five wickets over Delhi Capitals. Today, against SRH in a very low scoring match, Gayle added 20 runs, which gave KXIP bowlers something to work with.
Match details and Summary of KXIP vs SRH
Today it was not Gayle who steered the Kings towards victory. It was the brilliance from KXIP Bowlers, which resulted in a 12-run win for the Kings. The local boy Anureet Singh and the Englishmen Chris Jordan. Chris changed the complexion of the game by taking three crucial Sunrisers Wickets.
Chris Jordan got rid of M Pandey at first when Kings XI badly needed the breakthrough. Still, Sunrisers were sitting comfortable with five wickets in hand and a few runs to get, but then Chris Jordan came to the King’s rescue in the 19th over.
Jordan took the prized wicket of Jason Holder, who was the last recognized batsman for Sunrisers. On the very next ball, Chris got another one. Two wickets in two balls (Jason Holder and Rashid Khan) got the Sunrisers into a panic mode.
The youngster Anureet Singh then finished off the tail in the last over. 13 runs were too many to get for the tail-enders. SRH wickets fell like the house of cards, and Singh managed to take away three wickets in his last over and finished the job for KXIP in style.
But it was Chris Jordan who delivered an ideal 19th over where he took two wickets and gave away just three runs. He was declared “Man of the match” for his three wickets and seven runs he added to the low total.
