T-20 World Cup was planned for 2020 by ICC but due to the pandemic, it was postponed at that time. at that time, AB shows his interest to make a comeback in international cricket and be the part of South African T-20 squad for the world cup. The Cricketing board and other members of cricket south Africa think if he wants to take his retirement back, it is totally up to him. If he fulfills the requirements of the board and his form and fitness is enough to be a part of the South African squad then there will be no barrier or egos in between.
South African coach Mark Boucher said that we both are in contact with each other in this regard. As the T-20 world cup now has been planned in October and November this year in India. AB is currently playing IPL 2021 in India and he is in great form as we saw him in the past. He also discussed his interest to be in the South African squad for this T-20 world cup with Mark Boucher. Mark Boucher said to the Media persons that he along with the board members looks into this matter as the IPL 2021 comes to its end.
Experience Matters A lot
For the last few years, after the retirement of some of the South African greats like Hashim Amla, Philander, Dale Steyn, and AB de Villiers, the South African squad looks a little rusty on the ground. No matters what the condition is, away or home, South African players are not able to be on the winning side most of the time. The recent loss of series against Pakistan at home and away in Pakistan is something for the South African board to look at. At this time of need, the inclusion of great AB de Villiers in the squad adds strength and experience to the side as well.
