Pakistan Cricket Board Got The Green Signal From UAE Government

The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League, which was started on 20th February 2021 in Karachi was postponed due to a rise in Covid 19 cases in Pakistan. The tournament was organized in a special set-up biosecure bubble for the protection of players and staff. due to a surge in covid cases in Pakistan, the league was postponed on the 4th of March 2021. Multiple Covid cases were reported in the players and staff members as well. on the 11th of March 2021, PCB announced that they will try to reschedule the remaining matches for June 2021. On the 20th of May 2021, the UAE government allowed PCB to play the remaining matches in the UAE. 

Venue For Remaining Matches

The HBL PSL 2021 is going to be in action again in June in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium will host the remaining 20 matches of HBL PSL 2021. After a surge in covid cases in Pakistan, all the franchises demanded to transfer the tournament to UAE. Before that, PCB decided to play the remaining matches at the National Stadium Karachi from June 1st, 2021. The venue is so far hosted 124 T20 matches including 48 T20 Internationals.

HBL PSL 2021 Points Table and Team Standings

14 matches were played at the National Stadium Karachi before the covid-19 surge in Pakistan. As far as those 14 matches are concerned, Karachi Kings are on the top of the table. Karachi Kings won 3 out of their 5 matches and lead the point table with 6 points. Peshawar Zalmi also won 3 out of 5 matches and at the 2nd spot on the points table with 6 points. Zalmi’s net run rate is slightly below Karachi Kings. Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars won 3 out of 4 matches and grabbed the 3rd and 4th spot on the points table. The top 4 ranked teams of the points table won their 3 matches and have 6 points each, but Net Run Rate’s difference made them 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Multan Sultans won just one match out of their 5 matches. Sultans are on the 5th spot and have just 2 points in their pocket. Quetta Gladiators also won just one out of their 5 matches. Gladiators and on the bottom of the table with 2 points.

Players Availability and Replacements

There are so many foreign players which are not available for the remainder of HBL PSL 2021. Most of the players are not available because of the pandemic. The rest of the players are busy or bounded with their national duties and so on so forth. So PCB allowed all the franchises to redraft their squads and add some additional players. There are changes made by the franchises which will be shared soon as franchises revealed their full and final squads.
