Axar Patel
Not many people had heard of Akshar Patel before the 2014 Indian Premier League when the allrounder impressed for Kings XI Punjab with 17 wickets and was named emerging player of the tournament. That performance brought the off-spinner to the attention of national selectors and Patel made his one-day international debut against Bangladesh in June 2014. Patel, made his competitive debut in early 2012 playing for his home state Gujarat and was one of the key players in India under-23s’ title win in the ACC Emerging Teams Cup 2013. Patel played nine one-day internationals for India in 2014, with his best performance against Sri Lanka in November when he took 3-40.
He wanted to be an engineer before his father encouraged him to play competitive cricket.
